I bought my first land in
Ontonagon Co. in 1971, and on Lake Superior in 1977. My family has long
known that this was the spot for us. Sometimes we marvel at our good
fortune. Actually, we do that all the time. I had long wondered when
more quality beachfront land would come up for sale. When Brett Fish
came along with his Ten Mile Point project, just down the beach from
us, I snapped up several parcels, because there is no real estate I
cherish more. And now Brett and I are best pals, and his pickles are
awesome!
You think you can’t swim and play in Lake Superior’s waters? Think
again. But please, PLEASE don’t tell anybody…

For 25 years we have
dreamed of owning lakeshore on the Big Lake. We looked in Minnesota,
Wisconsin, and even Ontario. Always there were impediments. Price was
always an issue. Each time we thought we could afford it, we discovered
that the price had outstripped us. We became discouraged and quit
looking, telling ourselves that we didn’t want it at that price. We
discovered also that selection was poor and getting worse with each
passing year.
When we discovered The Shores near Ontonagon, it seemed our dream might
at last be within reach. The lots were priced where we could afford one
and the selection was excellent. It was like being in a candy store! We
could be happy with almost any of these lots. We quickly selected one
based on our specific criteria (there were many that would have worked)
and made the purchase. The folks at Do North have been very helpful,
before, during and now after the purchase. We are anxiously
anticipating the completion of the road so that we can put in the
driveway and begin enjoying this secluded, pristine spot on our
favorite lake.

On a whim, we drove to the
U.P. We searched through Canada, the northern U.P. and went as far as
Copper Harbor. Eventually, we found a little town just North of the
Porcupine Mountains called Ontonagon. I almost am hesitant in writing
this letter as I don't want to spoil such a well-kept secret. We found
more than we bargained for. Our hardest decision was picking the right
lot. This will be a truly priceless piece of property and we are
thankful for your help every step of the way!
