The Manistee National Forest in all it's natural splendor, is dotted with numerous northern Michigan towns. Each unique to it's surroundings and natural resources. Irons has been one of  those towns since 1894.

On a good day, we actually see the extraordinary natural beauty
around us, and we are properly astonished. We listen to old-timers talk about when sleds were the kindest transportation and to live here was to accept community as family. People took care of each other; they were the main event. To us, they still are.

On a real good day, we might see a fox on our way to work, and he sees us back. Or discover a patch of morels that we are certain no one else has yet discovered. And yes we have deer in amazing quantities, and sometimes we wonder if they out number us.
